On the return trip from the movies, I sit in the passenger seat of Jessica’s silver SUV. We had traveled to two nearby towns for some burgers and to watch a movie. Neither of us really cared much for the movie, but it was just a cheesy cash grab, anyway. We’re about halfway back into town, and the sun has already set.
“So, are you happy you spent ten dollars on that film?” She asks in a teasing tone.
I run into an internal conflict. This could be the perfect question to tell her how I really feel! I know we’ve only really known each other for a day now, but she’s exactly how she was when I talked with her online. I want to say something, but is it too soon? And do I have the courage? I release a quiet sigh I didn’t even know I was holding in, and look at her with a smile. I really, really want to say something, but I just can’t help but feel it’s too soon. I go against my gut instinct, and think of a different response,
